Laparoscopic retroperitoneal resection of blind-ending bifid ureter in patient with recurrent urinary tract infections.Perlmutter AE, Parousis VX, Farivar-Mohseni H Division of Urology, West Virginia University Hospitals, Morgantown, West Virginia 26505, USA. Aperlmu@aol.com Blind-ending bifid ureters are rare congenital anomalies. Symptomatic patients require surgical resection of the blind-ending ureter. Traditionally, open resection of the blind-ending segment has been performed. We describe a laparoscopic retroperitoneal three-port approach for resection of blind-ending bifid ureters. We believe this is a viable and less-invasive alternative to traditional open surgical resection of a blind-ending segment. Published 14 February 2005 in Urology, 65(2): 388.
