Spontaneous external drainage of renal abscess through persistent nephrostomy tract eleven years after percutaneous nephrolithotomy.Suttmann H, Kausch I, Blietz C, Walden O, Doehn C, Jocham D Department of Urology, University of Lübeck Medical School, Lübeck, Germany. henrik.suttmann@medinf.mu-luebeck.de A unique case of spontaneous external drainage of a renal abscess through a persistent nephrostomy tract is reported in a patient with a history of two subsequent percutaneous nephrolithotomies 11 years earlier. Nephrostomy tracts can open up even after several years to provide an exit path for infected urine or renal abscess drainage. Published 22 July 2005 in Urol Int, 75(1): 88-90.
